About
A ledger for introductions.
Referral Ledger exists to make one practice clearer: giving someone a good introduction, keeping track of it, and thanking the people who make the trade work.
Who it is for
People who trade introductions
Members of a referral group, colleagues who pass along clients, and independent professionals who would rather give a specific introduction than a general one.
- Business owners who refer clients to one another.
- Groups that want a shared way to talk about referrals.
- Anyone who wants a clearer record of who introduced whom.
What is here
A guide, a map, and a way to reach us
The field guide covers the four parts of a referral: giving it, asking for it, following up, and saying thank you. The referral map lets you record introductions and see them as a simple diagram.
- The field guide, in four parts.
- The referral map, which runs in your browser.
- Contact, by email only.
How the map works
Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
Names and referrals you add to the map stay in the page. They are not sent to a server, and they are cleared when you close or reload the page. Use the map to think through a group's introductions, then keep the real record where your group keeps its records.
Principles
Three things we hold to
- Be specific. A referral with a clear reason is worth more than a long list of names.
- Be prompt. Follow up and say thank you while the introduction is still fresh.
- Be generous, quietly. Give more than you ask for, and do not keep score in public.
